The Village of Los Lunas is located just a 15-minute interstate highway drive from Albuquerque. Its cost-of-doing-business is very reasonable, yet its amenities include easy highway and airport access, available land and a quiet, family-oriented lifestyle, just minutes from the hustle of Albuquerque.

Los Lunas is business-friendly. It has an active build-to-suit program, and Industrial Revenue Bonds are available through the Village of Los Lunas.

Los Morros Business Park, a 500-acre, state-of-the-art, master-planned, mixed-use business park, is the pricipal site for new industry. The park is strategically located to provide quick access to the Albuquerque International Sunport and Interstate 25, which connects the village to Albuquerque to the north and the Santa Teresa Port of Entry to Mexico just a few hours south.

Historically, the Valencia County economy was agricultural and tied to the Albuquerque area. Now, new businesses are changing the local economy:

• Merillat Industries, a division of Masco Corp. plans to open a 350,000 sq. ft. cabinet-making facility in early 2007. It will employ 700 people once it is fully operational.
• In 2005 Fresenius Medical Care AG, a German company, opened a 100,000 sq. ft. distribution facility along with a kidney dialysis clinic.
  
• In 1998 Wal-Mart opened a 650,000-square-foot regional warehouse facility in Los Lunas. It quickly became the county's largest employer.
• The Valencia branch of the University of New Mexico (UNM-VC) is also a significant employer, with 90 employees including 30 full-time faculty.

Although 45% of the Valencia County workforce — approximately 13,000 people — commute to Albuquerque, many would welcome the chance to work closer to home. Valencia County has:

• an unemployment rate of 5.2% (Valencia County, 1st qtr. 2006)
• a higher percentage of workers available for work than other metro area
• an available and eager work force who wish to work closer to home.

In the past, announcements of jobs paying little more than minimum wage brought five applicants for every job.

Target Industries

Los Lunas is a perfect location for manufacturing facilities, teleservice centers and value-added food processing (there is a burgeoning dairy industry in Southern New Mexico).
