Los Alamos National Lab’s Roadrunner supercomputer is not only the world’s fastest but also it is also energy efficient. The supercomputer uses a chip that was designed for the Sony PlayStation 3 entertainment system. “Not only is it the most powerful supercomputer, but Roadrunner is also one of the most energy efficient system on the TOP500,” wrote the University of Tennessee team that manages the Top 500 rankings.
